As an Artist:
Brandon Vazquez is a multimedia sound, video, and installation artist. Their work extracts minutiae from overarching systems that surround us, encompassing every aspect of our lives, and making them hard to separate from the mundane. His work seeks to confront environment, surveillance, and oppressive powers.

His practice draws inspiration from many sources such as brutalist architecture, Musique Concrete, and Fluxus. and although their work primarily utilizes the mediums of sound and video, each piece holds a sculptural value shaping the perception of the viewer's space.

As an Acoustic Designer: Brandon Vazquez is researching the acoustics of cultural and public spaces, specifically museums and galleries, and how they can be improved to enhance the patrons experience. Museums and galleries often strive for minimalism as to not compete with the artwork they are trying to showcase. This type of design poses major challenges acoustically, often relying on hard reflective surfaces (such as gallery walls or cases) which can greatly impact the patron experience.

By researching ways to analyze and treat these spaces, Brandon hopes to bridge the gap between architects, curators, artists, and acousticians to vacilitate change in museum acoustic and architectural design.
